About
Great design doesn't come from one person. It comes from the room. I bring 15+ years of self-taught experience to the table, but what I value most is what happens when a team isn't afraid to throw ideas together, challenge each other, and merge perspectives into something stronger. That's where the real solutions show up.
Work experience
Product Designer · DreamHost
- Led the redesign of DreamHost's front site and set the design direction the team followed from there. Built the new design language and stayed ahead on components and specs so the team always had what they needed.
- Handled early code exploration in React.js, Gatsby, and Tailwind to figure out how key pages should feel, and wrote the code updates for dreamhost.design myself in Sass and HTML.
- Updated branding and design systems across the board (front site, dreamhost.design, email templates, marketing materials, panel UI) so everything matched the new direction.
- Reviewed designs and gave feedback to get work ready for stakeholder demos, audited the company's existing tech, and put together proposals for new experiences that would improve major functions.
- Worked with QA and dev teams to scope out testing, and taught QA how to use Figma so they could verify designs on their own.
- Pretty much anything customer-facing at DreamHost, from the front site and panel to product pages, email, and social marketing, I had a hand in it.
Lead UI/UX Designer · Redact.dev
- Designed everything visual at Redact: website, mobile and web apps, branding, design systems, UI/UX flows, illustration, animation, marketing, print, merch. If it has Redact's name on it, I made it. One-person design team working with a fully remote crew.
- Built and maintained the design system from scratch so the product stayed consistent as it scaled; tested flows and prototypes with users and let data and feedback decide direction, not assumptions.
- Sat in on every conversation where design touched development. Worked directly with the CTO, stakeholders, and devs to make sure what we designed is what got built, and ran focus groups to figure out which features would actually move the needle.
- Gathered user feedback, defined what success looked like for each feature, and used that to guide prioritization, a process that helped take Redact from zero to six-figure MRR with no marketing agency involved.
- Brought AI into the workflow: AI-assisted coding tools to bridge design and front-end development, moving faster from concept to working code without waiting on a handoff.
Product Designer · USKO Privacy
- Designed the USKO app (Android and iOS) with a small team of UX designers, devs, and stakeholders. Created the look and feel from branding to front site to the app's UX, and got the product out in a short amount of time.
- Helped scope the app's features and interactions, re-thought the post-beta flows, and polished typography and color for consistency.
- Created animation assets with After Effects and Lottie, plus marketing, branding, and advertising assets for the team.
UI/UX Design Track Competitor · Topcoder
- Competed on-site against the world's best UI designers. Three-time UI finalist at TCO (Topcoder Open) 2015, 2019, and 2020.
- Designed and launched real products for T-Mobile, Woobot.io, Purina/Land O'Lakes, IBM, Credit Suisse, Standard Bank, and many more.
- Worked on defined-scope conceptual applications across web, mobile, tablet, watches, drones, and AR, taking vague ideas to prototyped hi-fi MVPs alongside data scientists, project managers, and stakeholders.
Graphic Artist Author · Envato
- Full-time stock author on GraphicRiver: print design, vector art, Photoshop and Illustrator templates, and product mock-ups.
- Made 344 print and digital templates for numerous fictional brand concepts in 3 years, averaging about 1,000 sales a year.
